Day 1: Ride the coastal roads in Bremanger
Day 1: Ride the coastal roads in Bremanger

This tour starts in the coastal area of Norway, also known as Little Lofoten because of the barren and rocky landscapes, red fisherman houses along the shoreline and fresh smell of salt sea water. Welcome to Bremanger!

Upon arrival, you will meet one of our guides at the hotel for a bike check and preparation. We make sure you and the bike are all set for a safe cycling adventure. You’re of course free to ask any questions you may have before the guide leaves.

Enjoy a warm lunch before heading out. Get to know your bike by cycling around the area for about an hour. It’s the perfect introduction to the tour and Bremanger. You’re all set to start the adventure tomorrow!

We hope you like seafood, because this hotel is famous for its seafood dishes.

Day 2: Cycle the fjords roads to Nordfjord
Day 2: Cycle the fjords roads to Nordfjord

Drop off your luggage at the appointed spot at the hotel.

It’s time to get on your bike and get going! Today’s stretch is over the island of Bremanger, past barren rock faces and the rocky coast right next to you. You will also pass a bright lit tunnel (with very few cars passing) to arrive on the island of Rugsund. Once on the other side of the fjord, admire the highest sea cliff of northern Europe: Hornelen!

Continue cycling over the winding fjord roads passing through small villages until you reach the inner part of the Nordfjord. Visit a historic sheep farm and meet the locals.

Enjoy a 2-course dinner tonight and stay the night at a home stay. Feel like a true local of the village.

Day 3: Explore the Nordfjord valleys and backroads
Day 3: Explore the Nordfjord valleys and backroads

Leave the village behind you as you bike along the Nordfjord to the ferry quay. This is traveling like the locals; board a quick 20-minute ferry across the fjord to the other side. Bike up into the valley and uphill towards a summer farm where you can stop for a break.

Continue over the backroads and along the fjord to a village at the end of the fjord’s arm: welcome to Nordfjordeid. Park your bike and go for a stroll along the charming main street with the wooden houses. If you want, you can visit the Sagastad Viking museum to learn more about the Vikings that lived here. You can board the biggest Viking ship replica based on archaeological finds just outside the museum.

You will stay the night at a hotel in town.

Day 4: Bike along the Hornindals lake to the Hjørundfjord
Day 4: Bike along the Hornindals lake to the Hjørundfjord

After breakfast, leave Nordfjordeid and make your way to the deepest lake of Europe, Hornindals lake. Today’s journey continues through mountainous terrain and through valleys that other tours overlook. But we don’t!

Arriving at the hidden fjord, Hjørundfjord, meet the rest of the participants to board a private boat over the fjord. Look around as this as ‘Norway’ as it gets: the Sunnmøre Alps area and the jagged peaks soaring from the fjord. The boat docks in a small fjordside village where you will have lunch.

You will stay at a 3-star hotel by the fjord.

Day 5: Cruise the Geirangerfjord
Day 5: Cruise the Geirangerfjord

Get ready for a mountainous biking route today. Cross the fjords using a local ferry and make your way through the Norangsvalley: what we believe is one of Norway’s more interesting valley. Here you get to get sights of the steep mountain, goat herds and shepherd cabins.

In the town of Hellesylt, get on board of the ferry onto the UNESCO world heritage listed Geirangerfjord and watch as the Seven Sisters Waterfall plunges in the fjord from over 1000ft above. After a steep climb up a winding road, you will arrive at your hotel for the night. A 3-course dinner awaits you.

Day 6: Ride an old mountain road & past glacial lakes

Take the ferry back through the Geirangerfjord back to Hellesylt. This next stretch goes into a surprisingly remote valley and up an historic road. These days, this road is only used by hikers and cyclists. Ride the 10-kilometer gravel road section and enjoy the silence here. Cars are not allowed here.

Continue towards the village and along a glacial lake in the Stryn area, next to Jostedalsbreen National Park. Feel free to take a break here to soak in the scenery.

End your day in the village of Loen, surrounded by glaciers and high mountain peaks. Stay the night at a historic hotel.

Day 7: Cycle the panorama road & walk behind a waterfall
Day 7: Cycle the panorama road & walk behind a waterfall

This is last cycling day of the tour. You will cycle along the main road for a bit before you take a turn onto the Panorama road. Welcome back to the Nordfjord area, but this time, another part of the fjord. The road takes you up higher giving you fantastic views over the fjord.

About halfway on this road, you can take a small detour to a waterfall which you can walk under and fill your water bottle.

After a long ride along the Nordfjord, give your muscles a break and board a ferry. This quick ferry takes you across the fjord in just 10 minutes. Cycle the last stretch along the Gloppenfjord and to the town of Sandane where you will stay for your final night.

Norway Adventures the Best Personalized Tour Company for Adventurous Travelers

We were so very fortunate to find Norway-Adventures.com in which they arranged our entire 2 ½ week travels in Norway. My husband and I cannot say enough about Norway-Adventures.com and how Anne and her husband planned the perfect vacation for us.

My husband and I are 70-year-old avid hikers and travelers both in US and in Europe. We only do very small group tours or find local tour companies to arrange personalized travel itineraries for just the 2 of us. They have lived in Norway for 15 years and their entire focus of their tour company is to create a very personalized vacation. We wanted a combination of unique adventures and cultural experiences, and Anne completely achieved all we had hoped for.

With all the travel companies we have dealt with in the past, we have never had a travel company like Norway-Adventures that was so complete with their level of instructions, organization, identifications of unique accommodations, supply of highly professional hiking, biking, kayaking and cultural guides. Three weeks before we left on our trip, we received our Dropbox of information that was so detailed. Everything we needed was in an extensive list of files that gave us everything we would need: GPS for driving directions, times we needed to be at the ferry, names and phones number of each of the Inns, and suggestions for restaurants, hikes and things to do were all listed with links to each of these resources. The Dropbox was the perfect tour resource that we relied on daily.

But when plans had changed due to several days of rainy weather, Anne was always available to make the necessary adjustments in our tour the day before. They say you don’t come to Norway for the weather and Anne was ready to make the changes that would not work with our rainy days.

Our goal for Norway was to be away from the heavy travel destinations that tourists travel there in the summer. With that in mind, Anne planned our trip in the Westfjords. Providing us with all the hidden gems of central Norway where the fjords enter deep from vertical cliffs, the archipelagos separate the Norwegian from the North Seas and the forests are verdant. Vast numbers of waterfalls spill down the cliffs of numerous fjord inlets. The scenery was magnificent everywhere Anne focused our tour.

The icing on the cake is the accommodations Anne chose for us. Anne is highly connected in the Westfords to the owners of historical inns who have been in the family for generations. It was so special to meet the families at each of these very special Inns and hotels where you get to meet and get to know the entire family who work there. The food at each of these inns are also family-run and incredibly fresh and delicious breakfasts and dinners that are included with your stay. With Anne’s connections, we were always surprised to find we received the best rooms in the inns and hotels.

Our hiking guides were incredibly knowledgeable, professional and so helpful in locations where I personally needed an extra hand to climb. We were so pleased with the selection of hikes that Anne organized for us. We are strong hikers, and she found just the perfect hikes to meet our adventurous expectations. The guides even brought tea and coffee and a snack when we got to the top of each mountain. What a wonderful and thoughtful treat.

Luxury Adventure Tour With My Family

I can honestly say that Norway Adventures is right up there with the best. The planning was meticulous, communication was excellent, and Anne and Anouk were extremely patient with the many many questions and queries I had in the planning stage.

We are a well travelled family, and have experience with firms like this all over the world. In terms of the trip itself, everything was seamless, nothing was overlooked, each day was exactly as they said it would be, and the planning was so precise that it allowed us to take advantage of every single day of the holiday.

We had an absolutely fantastic time in Norway. One of the most beautiful countries we have visited without doubt, and I know that we wouldnt have had the same experience without Norway Adventures. They took so much of the stress out of the planning and made sure we had exactly the kind of holiday experience we wanted. Highly recommended!

Once in a life time experience that no regular tour operator could equal!

Three years ago we spent two weeks on the fjords and coast of Norway with our son and his wife. They put the time and effort into designing a wonderful trip. We were so impressed and had such a wonderful time that we could not resist coming back.

Once again, Anne really spent the time to hone in on our interests and needs in a way we had never experienced before, except with Norway Adventures. Anne put together a fantastic, engaging customized tour off the beaten track through central Norway and down the west coast, traveling by train, private driver and boat. We encountered places and people we never would have found ourselves, who gave us insights into their Norway, its deep past and currently. The local guides were incredibly generous with their time, sharing their personal experiences and perspectives. The detailed daily itineraries (sometimes timed to the minute to ensure making ferry connections 😊) made our independent travel easy to negotiate without any hitches. At every step of the way, the trip went smoothly, way beyond our expectations. We have recommended Anne to many of our friends, who have been equally pleased, and look forward to another trip to Norway designed by Norway Adventures! Steve and Carol

Amazing active family vacation thanks to Norway Adventures!

We had an amazing 11-day customized active trip to Norway planned for our family of four. They met with us beforehand, really listened to what we wanted, and put together a trip that included places we never would’ve found on our own.

The daily guide they gave us made everything super easy, with great suggestions for things to do in each spot. It was such a fun and stress-free way to explore Norway. We’ll definitely use Norway Adventures again for future trips!
