Unforgettable Journeys: Private Tours Tailored to You

All our accommodations were top notch and varied from historic hotels, to farmhouses, and cabins. When meals were provided, they were all excellent. The seafood incredible.
We stayed about 3 nights at most locations, which was perfect. Our itinerary offered a variety of of activities from which we could choose, based on weather, what was in the area, and what we felt like doing. Never a day went by when we had nothing to do or see.

Our 2 weeks in Norway gave us a renewed appreciation of the word “fresh.” From surprisingly sunny days to those of rain, fog and heavy clouds, everything about the landscape, air, water, towns, food and people is crisp and alive! We were prepared for our many hikes and the kayak trip as they gave us detailed information about how to get to trailheads and what to expect for each venture (outstanding guides, too). Travel was made easier because they provided ferry schedules and links (always good to double check!) which are essential when driving in the fjord areas. Activities were well planned and we especially loved their recommendations for Kalvag (where we had the very best fresh fish on our trip. We met a sweet, local couple seated next to us for dinner (celebrating their 70+ birthdays); visiting with them and singing a few songs together was a highlight of our trip. The private, guided tour over a Viking burial mounds in Horgheim by the Storyteller Liv Jorunn, yet another exceptional experience. 5 out of 5 for Norway Adventures!

The daily itinerary was amazing, starting with detailed directions (with links to Google maps), great accommodations, and adventures crafted to meet our wishes. And most importantly, the staff and guides from Norway Adventures were all fabulous. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us, and Norway Adventures made it even more memorable. Thank you.

We were planning a trip to Sweden to pick up a new Volvo through their Overseas Delivery program. Part of that program includes being able to drive the new car for up to six months in Europe before having it shipped back to the US. Knowing we wanted to spend some time exploring and hiking in Norway, we contacted Norway AdvenTURes to see if they could design an itinerary for us. We met with Anne (virtually), and after hearing about our specific situation and interests, she proposed an amended version of the self-guided fjord hiking tour that is described on their website, which would allow us to make our way to the fjord land driving from Sweden, by way of Lillehammer, and return via Oslo. In a word, the trip was incredible! Our lodging was in small hotels that were charming and comfortable, and all in places that felt very off the beaten path. All breakfasts and most dinners were included, and the food was generally excellent. We had a couple of one night stays, but the rest of the time we spent 3 nights each in 3 separate locations, which allowed us to minimize the driving and maximize the exploring. For each location, we were provided with detailed information about various hiking options, as well as other places of interest we might want to see. Links to maps and to more information were included. The hike descriptions were honest and accurate, and obviously written by those with local and personal knowledge. Both easier and harder hiking options were always included. We did discover that Norway hiking can be challenging and humbling (and this is from a couple of well-seasoned Colorado hikers)! Many trails are very steep and rocky (no switchbacks), some with some fairly exposed areas, some muddy. But the payoff was well worth the effort, with stunning views of mountains, fjords, glaciers, and/or waterfalls on every hike we took. Other highlights included a private tour of the Sagastad Viking museum in Nordfjordeid, a half day guided kayak trip on Hjørundfjord, and a visit to Anne’s home and sheep farm in Davik. And no crowds! Anne took special care to design a trip that avoided touristy and overcrowded areas.
