Day to Day

Itinerary

Runde evening hike

Day 1:

The beautiful beaches at the peninsula Stadlandet were the perfect location for filming parts of the epic film Dune. In Dune, the planet Caladan is an ocean world, a world we would like to invite you to visit. Make sure to get a window seat on the flight to the coastal town of Ålesund and you will understand completely why.

At the start of your journey, you will drive out to the coast right away. Enjoy the ride through small villages, over small bridges to your accommodation where you will stay for two nights. Stay in an apartment with a view over the sea. Look at the birds flying by your window and leave all stress behind.

Day 2:

During the day you have the time to relax, visit the exhibition at Runde Environmental Centre and explore the area. In the afternoon a nature guide will take you out on a guided hiking tour on the bird island of Runde.

The high sea cliffs of the island, by the ocean, are the perfect spot for birds. This island has only 150 inhabitants, but more than 500.000 birds, of 230 species, come to Runde for the nesting season. Runde is famous for the puffins coming to visit from April through July every year. The birds are most active in the afternoon and evening, so that is the perfect time for your guided hike.

Day 3:

Now it is time to see the Dune Filming Location Ocean World up close. Drive towards Stadlandet, where all the fisherman villages and small beaches will prepare you for what is to come. If you want to go to Myresanden, the beach with the famous shot of Timothée Chalamet, it demands a hike off the beaten track, but we will tell you how.

A more famous beach in this area is Hoddevik beach. Did you know people come from all over the world to surf on the waves here? Spend two nights in a basic, but charming, surf lodge by the beach, and let the whole atmosphere inspire you.

(for upgraded accommodation you can also stay in a fjord hotel in a fishermen village nearby)

Day 4:

Today is the day to try out your surfing skills. The local surf instructor will give you insider tips, and however you will be doing, this will definitely be an experience. Cold? No, you will be provided with warm wetsuits, hats, gloves and shoes.

If you would rather go fishing with a local fishing guide, this is also possible (this activity is included in the upgraded tour).

Sagastad ship and museum. Norway Adventures vacation

Day 5:

Move deeper into the fjords, follow the traces of the Vikings to Sagastad, an impressive Viking Experience where you can board the world’s largest Viking ship.

Drive the Panorama Road along the Nordfjord, and continue until the Nordfjord meets the biggest glacier in mainland Europe. Stay in a charming historical hotel by the fjord for two nights.

Loen Skylift. Norway Adventures vacation

Day 6:

Explore the famous Lodalen valley by car or bicycle, hike to a hidden glacier and take the gondola up 1000 metres for a great view over the fjord, the surrounding mountains and glacier.

Maybe you want to enjoy dinner in the restaurant at the top?

Geirangerfjord seen from Skageflå

Day 7:

On the last day of your road trip, enjoy an epic route with hairpin bends towards the village of Geiranger. Take the ferry through the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The powerful waterfalls, with the Seven Sisters as one of the highlights, and the abandoned farms on steep ledges will definitely impress you.

Return to the coast for the last night in the ocean world. You will stay for one night in the cozy little town of Ålesund with its beautiful art nouveau architecture situated on the edge of the North sea. Enjoy a stroll through the city, along the harbor, and try out one of the renowned restaurants. You should really try bacalao, made of dried Cod.

Day 8:

Enjoy your last morning in Ålesund, before heading back to the airport. Maybe you fancy a last hike up to viewpoint Aksla for a great view over the city and the coast?
