Covid-19 Health and safety guidelines- small group tours

Your safety is important for us. On all our small group tours we follow the ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association) Covid-19 health and safety guidelines.

Norway is a sparsely populated country with huge areas of wild and untouched nature, which is a smart choice in these times of social distancing. We only work with small group tours and private tours. We believe that a small group makes the experience richer and, in times like these, it makes it also safer regarding Covid-19 transmission. Our ordinary small group tours have a maximum of 8-10 persons. For our family small group tours it might be up to 15. On our small group tours you will not be exposed to many other people except your guide and the group.

We advise all our guests to buy a travel insurance. Specifically check coverage for Covid-19 related issues in case of cancellation or sickness (before or during the tour).

Group Management:

  • Small groups, FIT or household groups are favoured to promote social distancing. We strive to keep trip participant numbers as low as reasonably possible.
  • Physical distancing does not need to be applied to household units.

Equipment:

  • When at all possible, participants should avoid sharing equipment, and should care for and carry their own personal equipment.
  •  Each person should have their individual gear – safety equipment, and clothing (neoprene, kayak jacket)
  • We sanitize any gear that could be a vector for COVID-19 transmission.

Pre Arrival instruction and Briefing

  • If any of the guests prior to departure have symptoms, no matter how mild, or are in a household where someone has symptoms, they are advised to stay at home.
  • We provide ample access to hand washing facilities and sanitizer.
  • We recommend you to sanitize hands before starting an activity and as often as needed throughout the activity also when entering any building or office facilities.

Transport:

  • The use of vehicles to transport clients includes a higher degree of COVID-19 transmission risk. We try to limit the situations where we have to transport people as much as possible.
  • When possible, we ask our guests to use their own means of transportation. Measures to mitigate risk will be used whenever possible. If transportation is arranged by us, all passengers have to wear face mask.

On the Trail:

  • We favour less popular trails and times to minimize your exposure to other people or groups.
  • We favour areas where it will be easier to maintain social distancing due to topography, difficulty level, or trail conditions.
  • When crossing paths with other groups, try to maintain ample space.

    Food:

    • Standard food safety field guidelines will be employed, such as rigorous hand hygiene, utensil sanitation, food storage, and a three-sink method of dishwashing (wash, rinse, sanitize).
    • Food preparation procedures should carefully promote distancing and prevent surface contact. The guide is responsible for the whole process and designates exclusive preparation areas.

      Camping:

      • We favour sites and locations that allow the group to have space. Popular sites will be avoided to minimize your exposure and ensure distancing.
      • If the group includes non-household members, or other groups are nearby, try to maintain ample space at all times.
      • Tents/shelters: We arrange single person or household unit shelters, or large well spaced and ventilated sleeping arrangements.
      • We set up arrangements to enable air flow and ventilation.
      • Shelters or sleeping quarters are assigned to the individual, and should not be shared or interchanged for the duration of the tour.
